Sebastian Thomas

Sebastian Thomas, an English-American artist, holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts, with a double major in Painting and Creative Writing from the Kansas City Art Institute (KCAI), completed in 2017, and a Master of Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), obtained in 2023. His international and national experiences include residencies at Studio Arts College International in Florence, AICAD Studio Residency in Brooklyn, New York and Ox-Bow Art and Artist Residency in Michigan.

Since 2023 Sebastian has been a lecturer in the Painting and Drawing department at SAIC. He is the recipient of the 2023 Municipal Art League Fellowship Award, the Joseph and Emily Gidwitz Scholarship and the Presidential Scholar Award from KCAI. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally in galleries and exhibition spaces such as the Leedy-Voulkos Art Center in Kansas City, Studio Arts College International in Florence, the Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design in New York City, and the Zolla/Lieberman Gallery in Chicago.

In addition to his visual art, his creative work has appeared in publications such as Kawsmouth Publications and Sprung Formal Literary Magazine, and he has been interviewed on radio stations KKFI and KXUA.
